State Wars V
In his second consecutive appearance at State Wars, the United States Roller Hockey Championships held in Cincinnati Ohio, Caden Villegas, was again selected to represent the State of Texas on two separate teams in the 2000 and 2001 birth year divisions. Villegas was able to accumulate 12 points in the 11 games played over the weekend. Of particular importance, were Villegas' last two points of the tournament: the game winning assist in the semi-final playoff game, followed by the game winning goal in the Championship game versus New York a few hours later. Outstanding play by Villegas and the rest of his Texas teammates, earned them the right to hoist the cup and call themselves the 2009 National Champions (2000 Division). For the second year in a row, Villegas' 2001 team brought home the silver medal for their division. In one of the most exciting moments of the tournament, Villegas awed the crowd during his performance in the Shoot-Out Competition, by successfully executing one of the most difficult trick shots in hockey - "The Michigan"(See The Video). Villegas advanced through 5 rounds of shoot-outs and outlasted 17 other competitors to ultimately earn the title of "Top Sniper".
